About the Role

As Director of Baggage Services and Projects at Greater Toronto Airports Authority, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of baggage programs and projects. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of the airport's complex systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of baggage programs and projects, collaborating with various departments and government agencies to achieve seamless integration and minimal operational disruption.
  • Develop and maintain contingency plans to address construction disruptions and ensure continuous passenger baggage flow.
  • Work closely with the Baggage Services Team to design optimal baggage flows that meet government agency requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on ITD, BIWIS, HBS, and OSS processes, providing technical guidance and support to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Manage government agencies' baggage screening requirements, integrating new initiatives and activities with Air Carriers and internal GTAA partners.
  • Support regulatory and policy development for baggage processes, working with governments in Canada and the United States (CBSA and USCBP).
  • Develop and maintain contingency plans to support baggage processes with Government Agency involvement.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of Common Handler service contracts.
  • Implement Toronto Pearson Baggage Strategy projects, defining project requirements to accommodate growth and capacity.
  • Assist in developing business cases to optimize baggage systems, reviewing and approving project management documents.
  • Mitigate operational impact while bringing order and consistency to planning and execution of projects.
  • Ensure targets are agreed upon and managed within the projects from a quantitative and schedule perspective.
  • Bullseye: Build and maintain day-to-day relationships and interactions with partners at CBSA, USCBP, CATSA, and TC, fostering transparency, collaboration, and customer-centricity.
  • Lead people by providing coaching, guidance, and development, offering meaningful feedback for personal and career growth.
About You

We're looking for an experienced professional with:

  • A post-secondary degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in large airports, airlines, or similar industries.
  • Experience with management in a unionized environment.
  • The ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance.
