Job Overview

As a key member of our Commercial Pricing team, the Actuarial Consultant will play a pivotal role in driving the development of best practices and methodologies. This individual will lead the integration of actuarial expertise into our processes, ensuring seamless execution and high-quality results. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth analytical research, extracting and manipulating complex data from various sources to inform business decisions.
  • Support the team by performing analyses, reviews, and ad-hoc requests in a timely manner, with some guidance from senior leaders.
  • Evaluate existing processes to identify areas for improvement, suggesting alternative approaches and implementing changes to enhance efficiency.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging industry trends, analyzing their impact on Wawanesa and representing the company at external events.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development, focusing on building cross-functional knowledge, technical skills, and mastery in key competencies.
  • Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication.
  • Build trust with teams, knowing when to seek expertise from others and leveraging their strengths to drive results.
  • Actively contribute to the mentorship, training, and development of junior actuarial analysts.
  • Review peer analysis, providing thoughtful feedback on reasonableness, completeness, and accuracy.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • More than 4 years of actuarial experience, with a strong background in commercial pricing.
  • 7 CAS exams or ACAS designation, with a proven track record of applying actuarial principles to complex problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficient in Excel, SQL, R, Python, and other related software, with experience in AWS and Power BI a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of actuarial science, mathematics, probability, statistics, and business principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge to real-world problems.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors and potential areas of concern.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple concurrent assignments, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Excellent conflict management and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, with a focus on building cross-functional knowledge and technical skills.
