Position Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Practical Nurse to join our dynamic team on the Surgical Inpatient Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to our mission of delivering high-reliability care.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in nursing and experience working in an acute surgical setting. You will be responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.

You will also have the opportunity to work closely with our multidisciplinary team to promote a culture of safety and quality.

Humber River Health offers a comprehensive compensation package, including a salary range of $36,929 - $37,466 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a range of benefits, including paid time off, health and dental insurance, and retirement savings plan.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two-year diploma program
  • Current Registered Practical Nurse registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Experience with patient health teaching
  • Demonstrated competency in a variety of skills, including intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, Blood Transfusion, Wound Care Dressing, Medication Administration, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in assessment and management of patients with continuous peripheral nerve block (CPNB) and patient-controlled analgesia (PCA)
  • Minimum 1 year acute surgical experience, preferred
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Excellent attendance and discipline-free record required
