Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care and support in accordance with the Recovery Model and current best practices in substance abuse and concurrent disorders treatment.
  • Conduct psycho/social and mental status assessments, and communicate effectively with family members, community providers, and physicians.
  • Work closely with the team to coordinate multiple interests and provide quality patient care.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and orientation programs to develop skills and knowledge in addiction treatment and mental health nursing.
  • Adhere to Brightshores' CARE Behaviours and LEAD Competencies, and demonstrate a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment.

Requirements

  • Current Registration with the Ontario College of Nurses.
  • Completion of a Psychiatric Nursing education program.
  • Familiarity with the Recovery Model and current best practices in substance abuse and concurrent disorders treatment.
  • Knowledge of patient safety principles and practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and share responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, and healthcare professionals.
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and complete additional education and training opportunities.
