Pathologist Assistant Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Pathologist Assistant Specialist to join our team at Southlake Regional Health Centre. As a specialist in this role, you will play a critical part in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Job Summary:
The Pathologist Assistant Specialist will work under the direction of pathologists to perform various tasks related to the preparation, dissection, and gross description of surgical specimens. This includes adhering to established protocols and procedures to ensure accuracy and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation, dissection, and gross description of surgical specimens with high complexity
- Adherence to established protocols and procedures for specimen handling and processing
- Collaboration with pathologists to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis
- Effective communication with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals
Requirements:
- Current certification from the Canadian Society of Clinical Chemists (CCC) or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in Science or Medical Laboratory Technologist with advanced courses in anatomy and physiology
- Graduate of a Pathologist Assistant training program or equivalent experience
- Prior experience as a Pathologist Assistant or equivalent
- Proficiency in CoPath and Dragon voice dictation software
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, particularly in pathological presentations
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail
- Strong medical terminology skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
