Director of Special Events and Hospitality

Located in the heart of Ottawa, Fairmont Château Laurier is a prestigious hotel that offers an unforgettable experience for every guest. As a Director of Banquets, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of every group function, providing exceptional service, and leading a talented team of professionals.
About the RoleThis is a senior leadership position that requires strong management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of banquets, meetings, and other events, ensuring that every detail meets the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with multiple departments to ensure seamless event execution
- Provide leadership, direction, and training to team members
- Ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the banquet department on a daily basis
- Maintain open communication lines with catering and convention services
- Proactively analyze and develop new processes to enhance event services
- Maintain staff morale and promote a positive team environment
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards
About You
We are seeking an experienced leader who has a proven track record in food and beverage management, particularly in banquet operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in hospitality or food and beverage management (an asset)
- Minimum five years' experience in food and beverage management, including three years in a banquet manager or assistant banquet manager setting
- Strong leadership qualities and management skills
- Ability to delegate tasks and ensure completion with strict adherence to deadlines
- Fluent in both official languages (an asset)
What We Offer
Fairmont Château Laurier offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including extended health benefits, retirement savings plan, and opportunities for professional development.
