About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our team at Bukhari Law Professional Corporation. As a Law Clerk, you will play a vital role in supporting our lawyers in the preparation and presentation of cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Support: Provide exceptional support to our clients, advising them on legal proceedings and ensuring they are well-informed throughout the process.
  • Document Preparation: Assemble and prepare documentary evidence in preparation for trial, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Administrative Tasks: Be responsible for the administration of estates and the distribution of assets, as well as performing various clerical duties such as maintaining filing systems.
  • Document Drafting: Draft contracts, prepare promissory notes, and draw up wills, mortgages, and other legal documents with precision and accuracy.
  • Interviews and Meetings: Conduct interviews with clients, witnesses, and other related parties, taking detailed notes and ensuring that all necessary information is gathered.
  • Court Proceedings: Represent clients in small claims court and in other lower court proceedings, at tribunals, and before administrative bodies, ensuring that their rights and interests are protected.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of court proceedings, including trial records and judgements.
  • Correspondence: Draft legal correspondence, including letters and reports, to ensure clear and effective communication with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Client Education: Explain rights and obligations to defendants, ensuring that they understand their position and the legal process.
  • Record Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of judicial court records, ensuring that they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Civil Marriages: Perform civil marriages, ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed.
  • Financial Management: Assist in preparing annual budgets, ensuring that the firm's financial resources are managed effectively.
  • Court Proceedings: Hear evidence at trials on summary conviction offences and may preside over trials of criminal offences, ensuring that justice is served.
  • Court Administration: Call courts of law to order, read charges, and take pleas from defendants, ensuring that the court process runs smoothly.
Requirements
  • Education: College/CEGEP degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • Language: Fluency in English.
  • Work Hours: 35 hours per week.
