About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our team at RSM LAW PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION. As a Law Clerk, you will play a critical role in supporting our lawyers in various aspects of law practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Support
    • Advise clients on legal proceedings and provide guidance on their rights and obligations.
    • Interview clients, witnesses, and other related parties to gather information and evidence.
  • Document Preparation
    • Assemble documentary evidence in preparation for trial, including drafting contracts, wills, and other legal documents.
    • Prepare and complete applications for simple joint and uncontested divorces, domestic contracts, and name changes.
  • Administrative Support
    • Perform clerical duties, such as maintaining filing systems and organizing documents.
    • Co-ordinate administrative services, including arranging pre-trial conferences and hearings.
  • Legal Research
    • Conduct research on legal matters and provide recommendations to lawyers.
    • Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations.
  • Communication
    • Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and other stakeholders.
    • Write trial briefs and other legal correspondence.
  • Other Duties
    • Administer oaths and take affidavits and depositions.
    • Establish work priorities for court staff and receive affidavits, declarations, and affirmations.
    Requirements
    • Education
      • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
    • Experience
      • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
    • Language
      • English language proficiency.
    • Work Environment
      • 40 hours per week.
