We are seeking an exceptional scientist to join our interdepartmental Retina and Optic Nerve Research Group at Dalhousie University's Faculty of Medicine. This tenure-stream position is designated to applicants who identify in equity-deserving groups.
About the OpportunityThis position offers a unique opportunity to develop an extramurally funded research program in visual neuroscience, with a focus on fundamental and/or translational aspects of retinal circuitry, cell biology, or physiology. The successful candidate will expand interactions with clinical research groups in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, leading to collaborative translational research efforts.
Responsibilities- Develop and lead an extramurally funded research program in visual neuroscience.
- Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and administrative activities at the departmental and faculty levels.
- Participate in the training of ophthalmology residents and fellows.
- Collaborate with faculty studying diverse areas of neuroscience, including neurodevelopment, spinal cord and locomotion, sleep, and nerve injury.
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent, with at least three years of postdoctoral experience. Demonstrated research excellence in visual neuroscience and teaching experience are essential. The candidate will have access to dedicated laboratory space, start-up funds, and state-of-the-art core facilities.
