Island Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse General to provide high-quality patient care in our healthcare facilities. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
About the RoleIn accordance with Island Health's Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction, patient safety is a top priority for this position. You will be responsible for coordinating and administering direct client care, providing direction to auxiliary personnel and staff, and responding to emergency situations to safeguard clients, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities- Provide professional nursing care to clients as a member of a multidisciplinary team, utilizing the nursing process and adhering to BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice and Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nursing.
- Coordinate and administer direct client care, including assessing patients' needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and evaluating the effectiveness of care provided.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and address any concerns or issues that may arise during treatment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient care, including progress notes, medication administration records, and laboratory results.
- Current registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
- Basic Life Support certification, Level C; post-basic education for clinical areas; and up to one (1) year of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Specialty certification for specific units, such as Operating Room, Post Anesthetic Recovery, Obstetrics, Paediatrics, and Psychiatry, may be required for certain positions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations, with a focus on delivering safe and effective patient care.
