Compliance Specialist

The Law Society of British Columbia is seeking a skilled Compliance Specialist to join our Intake & Early Resolutions department. This permanent, full-time role involves effective assessment and resolution of complaints against lawyers, students, and former members. Working closely with the Professional Regulation Department and other staff, you will efficiently manage assigned file loads.
Responsibilities include handling public inquiries, reviewing and assigning new complaints, requesting substantiation from complainants when necessary, considering ways to resolve concerns at an early stage, and providing advice to intake officers and other staff as needed. You will also prepare opinions of fact and law for consideration by committees, work with and coordinate investigations, and perform such other duties as the Director of Intake & Early Resolution may require.
To succeed in this role, you will possess practising membership in the Law Society of BC or eligibility for membership, a minimum of five years of recent practice experience, superior writing and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Mediation and Trauma-Informed training is an asset. The salary range for this position is $133,403.30 to $161,653.86.
