Job Overview

Alexander Holburn Beaudin + Lang LLP is a leading Canadian law firm with offices in Vancouver, Toronto, and Kelowna. We are dedicated to providing exceptional business, litigation, and dispute resolution services to clients across Canada and abroad.

We are currently seeking an experienced Compliance and Risk Management Specialist to oversee our firm's compliance initiatives. This role will report directly to our Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner.

Responsibilities
  • Compliance Program Administration: Manage and administer our ethical wall, conflict, and client identification systems to ensure seamless integration with our operations.
  • Team Supervision: Oversee the Compliance Administrator and Compliance Assistant, guiding them in their responsibilities and providing support as needed.
  • E-Walls Management: Manage all aspects of E-Walls, ensuring optimal performance and functionality.
  • Matter and Client Closing: Supervise matter and client closing in 3E, guaranteeing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Training and Development: Provide additional training to LAAs and lawyers on relevant topics, including ethics, conflicts, and file management.
  • Conflict Resolution: Assist lawyers with interpreting conflict reports and managing conflict issues effectively.
  • Client Identification: Support LAAs with client identification/file opening information, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Technology Training: Supervise the use of Equifax and provide training to employees on its effective utilization.
  • Professional Development: Offer training on ethics, conflicts, E-Walls, file opening, and file closing procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of legal experience, preferably in a management capacity.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with legal information technology systems, including 3E, iCompli, and/or Matter Expert.
  • Candidates Preferred: Those with experience in legal IT systems and excellent analytical, research, technical, and organizational skills.
  • Essential Skills: A thorough understanding of professional and ethical standards in the practice of law, excellent communication skills, and ability to solve problems efficiently.
Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000 - $170,000, commensurate with experience. We offer a competitive compensation package that reflects the value we place on attracting and retaining top talent.
