About the Role

The Engagement and Advocacy Coordinator is a key member of the Hillel Ontario team, responsible for developing and implementing advocacy strategies to engage Jewish students and promote a positive Jewish presence on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a proactive advocacy strategy to engage Jewish students and promote Hillel Ontario's mission and values.
  • Collaborate with other Jewish and Israel advocacy organizations to advance Hillel Ontario's strategic objectives.
  • Provide support to Jewish and non-Jewish students in pursuit of their advocacy interests, cultivating student leadership and mobilizing students towards advocacy objectives.
  • Prepare for and respond effectively to anti-Israel/antisemitic incidents on campus.
  • Support pre-trip efforts and post-trip follow-up for Israel immersive experiences.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of strategic campaigns to advance advocacy objectives.
  • Take initiative and seek opportunities to advance Hillel Ontario's advocacy strategy on campus.
  • Monitor and report on anti-Israel and antisemitic activities on campus.
Engagement
  • Ensure a visible Jewish presence on campus.
  • Identify and contact uninvolved student populations and develop strategies for engaging them independently and with existing student leaders.
  • Responsible for data management related to student engagement metrics.
  • Develop one-on-one relationships with Jewish students by meeting them where they live, work, and study.
  • Build relationships with professionals and student leadership of campus groups.
Program Development
  • Support student-initiated programs and attend programs when appropriate.
  • Play a key role in supporting the planning, executing, and evaluation of all programming.
  • Identify and seek innovative program areas to reach new student populations.
  • Support, plan, and execute Hillel Ontario's flagship programming, including Holocaust Education Week.
Requirements
  • University degree or 2-year college diploma in a related field of study.
  • 0-3 years of experience in student programming and engagement in a university or college environment.
  • Demonstrated involvement in student government, political organizing, or active engagement in campus life at university.
  • Well-developed program development, organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to be strategic and have a future-focused mindset.
  • Ability to take initiative and collaborate with multiple team members.
  • Sophisticated written and verbal communication skills.
