About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Physician to join our team in Correctional Health Services. As a key member of our medical team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary health providers to deliver exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in patient care at one of ten Correctional facilities in British Columbia under the supervision of a CHS physician or delegate, working collaboratively with other health care providers.
  • Conduct health assessments for each patient, examining, diagnosing, and treating sick or injured patients, including those in the segregation unit.
  • Examine patients with dental complaints where dental services are not immediately available, administering medication or other relief as needed, and referring to dentistry services when indicated.
Patient Management
  • Perform and document admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, medication reconciliations as per BC College and organizational standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Arrange for hospital or medical facility services when the Correctional Centre's facilities are inadequate for necessary examination, diagnosis, or treatment of a patient.
  • Manage day-to-day patient care, including writing medical orders on charts and consulting with other services as needed.
Professional Development
  • Participate in Medical Staff Meetings, chaired by the Medical Director, to discuss Correctional Health Services.
  • Engage in appropriate professional development activities (a minimum of 50 hours per year, 25 hours of which must be accredited training recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons' Maintenance of Certification Program).
Requirements
  • A medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, along with at least 2 years of accredited postgraduate training, verified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs).
  • Eligibility for registration with the CPSBC in the Associate Physician class and Canadian Citizenship, permanent residency, or the ability to live and work in British Columbia.
Estimated Salary Range

$185,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
