About the Role
- We are seeking a seasoned prosecutor to join our team at the Government of Alberta.
Overview
The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) is responsible for prosecuting individuals charged with various offenses, including Criminal Code and provincial statute crimes. Our goal is to promote safe communities by vigorously pursuing cases involving serious and violent crime while collaborating with community stakeholders to identify and implement improved approaches to criminal justice.
Compensation
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary, ranging from $97,679 to $123,047 per year, based on a 48 bi-weekly schedule. Alternatively, they may be eligible for a CP2 salary range of $5,303.57 bi-weekly, equivalent to $138,418 to $171,413 per year.
Key Responsibilities
- This position involves acting as counsel at first instance bail hearings before the Hearing Office.
- The selected individual will conduct legal research, write reports, and present findings.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree is mandatory.
- The ideal candidate must be an active member or eligible for full membership with the Law Society of Alberta.
- Strong knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, particularly in relation to Bail procedures, is essential.
Desirable Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, Weslaw, and CanLii, would be advantageous.
Work Arrangements
This role features a shift rotation consisting of 3 days, 3 evenings, and 3 days off. The morning shift operates from 8 am to 4 pm, while the evening shift runs from 4 pm to midnight.
