The Role:
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading the development and implementation of safety and risk management policies and procedures in compliance with provincial and local regulators.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols for adventure activities.
- Identify potential hazards and conduct thorough risk assessments.
- Ensure adherence to all government statutes, laws, bylaws, and permit restrictions.
- Develop and deliver safety training, including emergency response drills.
- Develop comprehensive emergency response plans for different scenarios.
- Maintain a system for reporting and investigating incidents or near misses.
- Champion the Joint Health and Safety Committee and maintain OH&S documentation.
- Keep abreast of changes in safety regulations.
- Maintain open lines of communication with employees, management, and external bodies.
- Ensure team members have all mandatory safety training.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures relating to safety.
- Encourage a culture of safety within Gibbons.
- Maintain appropriate safety records.
- Support day-to-day operations.
Requirements:
- Understanding of safety regulations and standards relevant to adventure activities.
- Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs.
- Ability to lead and motivate staff members to prioritize safety.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey safety protocols and procedures.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and develop strategies for mitigating.
- Computer skills, including word, excel, and PowerPoint.

- $65,000 - $80,000 annual salary based on experience and qualifications.
