The Role

The Safety Manager is responsible for leading the development and implementation of safety and risk management policies and procedures. This includes developing and delivering safety training, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and identify potential hazards.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and represent the company proactively to official representatives.
  • Develop and deliver safety training, including emergency response drills.
  • Develop comprehensive emergency response plans.
  • Maintain a system for reporting and investigating incidents or near misses.
  • Champion the Joint Health and Safety Committee and ensure compliance with Work Safe BC.
  • Keep abreast of changes in safety regulations.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with employees, management, and external bodies.
  • Ensure team members have all mandatory safety training.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures relating to safety.
  • Encourage a culture of safety within the company.
  • Maintain appropriate safety records.
  • Support day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • Understanding of safety regulations and standards relevant to adventure activities.
  • Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff members to prioritize safety.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey safety protocols and procedures.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and develop strategies for mitigating.
  • Computer skills, including word, excel, and PowerPoint.

  • $65,000 - $80,000 annual salary based on experience and qualifications.
