Operating Room Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the operating room environment. As a member of our integrated surgical team, you will provide practical nursing services and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care during pre-operative, operative, and post-operative periods.
- Perform scrub duties, admission of patients to the OR, and circulating duties in collaboration with the peri-operative team and the RN coordinating care in the O.R.
- Assist the primary circulating RN in her role and alert her to any problems, changes, or unusual signs or symptoms of the patient while in the operating room setting.
- Document observations, treatment, and other patient care activities during the pre, intra, and post-operative periods.
- Attend staff meetings and quality improvement rounds to provide and obtain information and feedback about patients and patient care.
- Assist with orientation of new staff and attend educational sessions, in-services, and workshops as required to facilitate knowledge enhancement and technology changes.
- Perform related clerical duties such as answering the telephone, taking and relaying messages, and assisting in maintaining standardized records.
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses with the full range of current licensed practical nursing competencies.
- Graduation from an accredited O.R. program for Licensed Practical Nurses plus one year recent related experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse in acute care, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Current basic cardiac life support certification.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
