Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Geriatrics

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Pro Vita Care Management. As a LPN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to our elderly patients in a nursing home setting.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will be responsible for administering medications, applying aseptic techniques, conducting specimen collection, and ensuring infection control. You will also be responsible for monitoring nutritional intake, observing and recording medication's therapeutic and side effects, and taking vital signs.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications as prescribed by physicians
  • Apply aseptic techniques, including sterile dressing, to prevent infection
  • Conduct specimen collection and send samples to the laboratory for analysis
  • Ensure infection control by following proper protocols and procedures
  • Monitor nutritional intake and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects
  • Take vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure
  • Clean and sterilize the operating room and instruments
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care
  • Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy
  • Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families
  • Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures
  • Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions, and consult with appropriate members of the healthcare team
Requirements:
  • Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work
  • Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination
  • CPR Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
Work Environment:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, with a large caseload. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong attention to detail.
