Job Summary:

VON Canada seeks an experienced Regional Fund Development Director to lead and implement fundraising activities in their regional area. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of generating philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a diversified annual fundraising program, with an emphasis on mid-level donors and planned giving, aligned with the national framework.
  • Build short-term and long-term goals and objectives for donor retention and acquisition through centralized direct response programs.
  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate prospects and donors; maintain and report on a prospect pipeline.
  • Develop local solicitation, stewardship, and recognition plans for donors and prospects, in keeping with the national framework.
  • Utilize data management systems to ensure accurate and timely recording of data and reporting fund development results.
  • Lead, support, and train Fund Development Coordinators for successful management of fundraising activities.
  • Participate as an active member of site management teams.
  • Lead Community Corporation Boards and relevant committees, working with staff to develop and monitor annual fund development plans.
  • Work with Engagement Leads to prepare annual Community Corporation budgets and monitor monthly financial statements.
  • Liaise with VON Canada Fund Development staff, working in partnership on various projects.
  • Conduct prospect research, proposal writing, and coordinate various donor-related communication vehicles.
  • Facilitate employee giving campaigns, employee education sessions, and manage department fundraising events.
  • Provide first-point contact for all donors and prospects.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Promote the strategy of VON and their role as an integrated home and community care provider to all stakeholders and staff.
  • Prioritize and ensure alignment of emerging opportunities in the community with VON's strategic plan.
  • Provide leadership in navigating unionized and non-unionized environments.
  • Coach, advise, motivate, and provide leadership to staff, creating a positive workplace.
  • Promote Lean team management approaches, ensuring a common paradigm of management practices.
  • Ensure mechanisms for staff feedback and input on organizational news and performance.
  • Promote common approaches to orientation, learning, motivating, recognizing, and supporting staff when achieving organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in promoting a safe and healthy workplace, ensuring compliance with provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Promote the use of technology-based systems for capturing, transforming, and distributing knowledge.

Education, Designations, and Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in fundraising management, including extensive experience with Blackbaud products and supervising, planning, and executing fund development and marketing programs/campaigns in collaboration with staff and volunteers.
  • Experience working in organizations with both national and local community dynamics.
  • Knowledge of fundraising processes, best practices, and current industry trends.
  • Fully conversant with CRA requirements as they apply to registered charities.

Skill Requirements:

  • Highly proficient user of a fundraising database (Raiser's Edge preferable).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office software, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and balance competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively structure daily work activity with minimal supervision, focused on achieving goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships.
  • Demonstrated skillsets in leadership and team building.
  • Ability to accept and facilitate change.

Estimated Salary:$65,000 - $80,000 per annum, based on location and experience.
