Job Overview
The Underwriting Technical Specialist – Commercial Lines plays a crucial role in driving business growth and profitability at Wawanesa Insurance. As a key member of our team, you will assist in strategic and business-as-usual initiatives to achieve competitiveness, efficiency, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with Executive Office as a subject matter expert to assist with strategic initiatives, including technological advancements, rate and product development, regulatory changes, and customer engagement.
- Conduct research and analysis of industry and company data to contribute to assigned initiatives.
- Champion the development and implementation of business change, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to operations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, reflecting the latest information and best practices.
- Provide technical assistance and training to ensure consistency in the implementation of change, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop team members, facilitating knowledge sharing and best practices to drive business success.
- Perform risk analysis using technology and external data sources to inform quoting, negotiating, and authorizing risk acceptance.
- Lead and participate in periodic work reviews to ensure quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Foster positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regional offices and industry partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business objectives.
Qualifications
- Seven years of experience in the Property and Casualty industry.
- Post-secondary education or related business experience.
- Completed a Property and Casualty Industry Designation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to provide justification.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Expert communication skills with the ability to present information convincingly.
- Strong leadership skills to positively influence team members and provide direction.
- Strong ability to multi-task and monitor progress to meet deadlines.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
