About the Role:

The University of Toronto's Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Academic Support Coordinator to provide academic success support services and guidance to intercollegiate and high performance student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing plans and process improvements for programs and service activity
  • Creating and updating students' records, maintaining confidentiality of information, and processing all academic conflict letters
  • Promoting departmental events and programs to students and delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities, and initiatives
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials and editing content for brochures, newsletters, websites, and handbooks
  • Liaising with various stakeholders to foster collaboration and ensure consistent administration procedures are followed
  • Determining the logistical details and activities for events and/or programming, coordinating the schedule for programs and event calendars, and handling expenses for events
  • Directing the activities of casual staff and submitting time sheets for data processing
  • Keeping well-informed on student service programs across all three campuses and providing advice/guidance as it relates to athletic eligibility

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in education or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years of experience working in student academic success advising student athletes in a University or similar academic setting
  • A solid understanding of Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and U SPORTS eligibility rules required
  • Familiarity with University of Toronto academic rules, regulations, and student support resources on all three campuses
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a diverse group of students and University colleagues
  • Knowledge in the practical application of student development theory and academic learning strategies
  • Good problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organization skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and motivation and ability to maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced, diverse environment
