Job OpportunityWe are seeking a skilled Carbon Project Developer Canada (m/w/d) for a full-time position at the earliest possible date.
Position OverviewAs a Carbon Project Developer Canada, you will oversee the entire project lifecycle of our Canadian forestry carbon initiatives, from design to verification and registration. You will collaborate closely with landowners, forestry experts, carbon certifiers, and stakeholders to implement projects aligned with applicable carbon standards in Canada and beyond.
Your Responsibilities- Develop and lead carbon forestry projects, including feasibility assessments, project designs, and implementation plans.
- Work with landowners and forestry specialists to implement sustainable forest management plans.
- Conduct carbon stock assessments, baseline studies, and monitor carbon sequestration potential.
- Oversee the carbon certification process under standards like ACR, Verra, or similar.
- Prepare project documentation, including Project Design Documents (PDDs) and Monitoring Reports.
- Maintain relationships with stakeholders, including certifying agencies.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and market developments in the carbon markets and forestry sectors.
- Contribute to co-developing standards with other market stakeholders.
- Ensure projects comply with legal and environmental regulations.
- Support business development efforts by identifying new project opportunities and partnerships.
- Develop cost estimates, budgets, and financial projections for projects.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in carbon project development, preferably in the forestry sector.
- Strong knowledge of carbon markets, carbon accounting, and carbon standards.
- Familiarity with forest management practices, afforestation, reforestation, and forest conservation.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for land-use mapping and carbon monitoring.
- Excellent project management skills with experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in any other language is a plus.
- Willingness to travel across North America as needed.
