Valard, a leading utility contractor in Canada, is seeking a highly skilled Safety Advisor to join their team. As a key member of the Health and Safety Department, you will play a vital role in ensuring a world-class safety culture is established and maintained across all projects.

Job Summary:

The Safety Advisor will provide support to supervisors, foremen, and workers in the field, ensuring compliance with Valard's Health and Safety Manual and applicable legislation. This role requires a strong understanding of safety procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and coordination of day-to-day safety requirements on assigned projects
  • Monitor, audit, and report on safety findings and corrective actions
  • Support supervisors, foremen, and workers in the field to ensure compliance with safety procedures
  • Develop and maintain good relations with clients and client representatives
  • Participate in regular meetings with the Regional Health and Safety Manager to review issues, trends, and upcoming conditions or events
Requirements:
  • National Construction Safety Officer Certification or Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) College or University Certificate or diploma program
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum 3 years Health and Safety experience in a construction environment
  • Excellent Incident Investigation skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform under stressful conditions
  • Analytical skills
  • Probability and decision-making skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
