Job Title: Safety Advisor

Valard, a leading utility contractor in Canada, is seeking a highly skilled Safety Advisor to join their team. As a key member of the Health and Safety Department, you will play a vital role in maintaining a world-class safety culture across the organization.

Job Summary:

The Safety Advisor will provide support to supervisors, foremen, and workers in the field, ensuring compliance with Valard's Health and Safety Manual and relevant legislation. This role requires strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills to promote a safe work environment and prevent incidents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and audit safety procedures to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to address safety concerns
  • Provide training and coaching to supervisors, foremen, and workers on safety protocols and procedures
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Investigate incidents and develop reports to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with the project management team to ensure safety obligations are met
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and client representatives to ensure Valard's best interests are represented
Requirements:
  • National Construction Safety Officer Certification or Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) College or University Certificate or diploma program
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum 3 years Health & Safety experience in a construction environment
  • Excellent incident investigation skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions
