News Director, CTV2 Barrie, Media Executive

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled News Director to lead our news operations at CTV2 Barrie. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing news operations, providing editorial leadership, and overseeing the production of news content.
Key Responsibilities- Manage news operations, including staff development, training, and talent recruitment.
- Provide editorial leadership, defining the direction, tone, and presentation of news content on all platforms.
- Executive Producer of all CTV2 Barrie News.
- Assign resources, contribute to content, and show production.
- Oversee CTV2 Barrie News website and social media properties.
- Communicate effectively with production team.
- Coordinate news gathering requirements in conjunction with CTV Network and other Bell Media platforms.
- Manage legal issues and CRTC complaints.
- Help strengthen relationship with key community members.
- Help develop digital strategy for news properties.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary education in Journalism, Broadcasting, or Media Production or equivalent and at least 5 years' experience in a newsroom.
- Excellent knowledge of local news and current affairs.
- Proven sound editorial judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to originate coverage on developing news stories and features.
- Minimum 3 years' field experience in television journalism.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a producer.
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a leadership role in a newsroom environment.
- A track record for outstanding, concise communication and direct coaching skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Forward thinking, a creative and open-minded problem solver with experience maximizing the best use of the company's resources.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Strong team leader with effective people and motivational skills and a demonstrated record of success supervising staff.
- Practical working knowledge of Microsoft Office and iNEWS.
Full-time in office (meaning that you will be required to perform your work on-site).
