Job Overview

The Conference Services Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Director of Conference Services and Catering, as well as the General Manager, by handling administrative duties and servicing meetings and event bookings.

This position will be responsible for expediting details for events, catering, and conferences, while also performing administrative tasks and providing relief at the Front Desk as needed.

The Conference Services Coordinator will be an important member of the team, working closely with the Director and Manager of Conference Services and Catering to ensure that the goals and deadlines of this area are achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed and when required.
  • Solicit new business and develop and maintain relationships to drive sales on campus and in the wider community.
  • Work closely with the Director and Manager of Conference Services and Catering to ensure event processes are positive and that all staff are able to perform at the highest level.
  • Gain a logistical understanding of the needs of the client throughout their event.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications with all employees.
  • Manage meeting space to maximize space utilization balanced with customer needs.
Requirements
  • Ideal candidates will possess a Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma or 2-4 years of Conference Planning & Catering experience.
  • Experience with companies operating in multi-site, unionized operations is preferred.
  • Experience working with OPERA Property Management System will be an asset.
