Environmental Services Maintenance Technician

At Verve Senior Living, we are seeking a skilled Environmental Services Maintenance Technician to join our team. As an Environmental Services Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing maintenance repairs, painting, and maintenance on equipment and supplies in the home. You will adhere to all regulations and standards in accordance with the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program.
  • Maintain the building in good repair and keep free of hazards such as those caused by electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling systems.
  • Monitor environmental fire safety conditions, equipment, and alarm systems.
  • Perform regular monthly maintenance checks of all equipment and supplies within the residence.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair work. Coordinate maintenance work with other departments.
  • Maintain the exterior grounds; salting, snow removal, weed control.
  • Plaster, paint, and perform carpentry and repair work. Minor plumbing, remove/install toilets, faucets, water supply hoses, and flow valves.
  • Maintain required records and reports as outlined in the policies and procedures of the maintenance department.
  • Maintain the residence in a safe and clean environment. Keep work areas and storage rooms neat and orderly.
  • Follow established safety rules and policies and procedures of the maintenance department.
  • Maintain effective communication both written and verbal with residents, tenants, and staff. Use the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspection of all fire safety equipment.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers on a monthly basis.
  • Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required mandatory training/education.
  • Comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and W.H.M.I.S. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the environmental services manager.
