Heavy Duty Technician Opportunity at GFL Environmental

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Technician to join our team in Calgary, AB. As a Heavy Duty Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe operation of our heavy-duty diesel and alternative fuel trucks and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate, repair, rebuild, and maintain company-owned heavy-duty diesel and alternative fuel trucks and equipment.
  • Ensure the safe operation of rolling stock to support waste removal and environmental services provided by our drivers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair operational difficulties, and complete administrative duties.
  • Plan and schedule repairs, review mechanical write-ups, and assist in coordinating repair schedules.
  • Respond to service calls and emergent situations in the field.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a diesel mechanic
  • Computer literate, trainable on software systems, and willing to learn
  • Meet safety-sensitive function criteria according to company standards
  • Ability to use diagnostic software (a plus)
  • Follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records
  • Operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform the job
  • Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job
