Therapeutic Area Lead, Oncology Medical Affairs

Astellas Pharma Canada is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Affairs professional to lead our Oncology Therapeutic Area team.
This is a key leadership role that will be responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to the Oncology Medical Affairs team, ensuring that all activities and deliverables are aligned with the company's business objectives and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in Medical Affairs, with experience in leading cross-functional teams and developing and implementing strategic plans. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and regulatory teams, as well as external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and patient organizations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Oncology Medical Affairs team, ensuring that all activities and deliverables are aligned with the company's business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to support the launch and growth of Astellas' oncology products, including the development of key messaging, training programs, and educational materials.
- Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement medical affairs strategies, including the development of clinical trial protocols, investigator brochures, and informed consent forms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and regulatory teams, as well as external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and patient organizations.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in oncology and medical affairs, and apply this knowledge to inform strategic decisions and develop effective medical affairs strategies.
- Graduate degree in life sciences (Ph.D., Pharm.D., or M.D.)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Medical Affairs, with a strong background in oncology and a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and developing and implementing strategic plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, with occasional overnight stays.
