Medical Affairs Director, Oncology

Astellas Pharma Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Medical Affairs Director to lead our Oncology team in Canada.

About the Role:
The Medical Affairs Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the Oncology team, ensuring all medical activities are aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement local integrated Medical Affairs strategic plans for assigned therapeutic areas.
- Provide medical / scientific perspective in development of strategic brand plans and other commercial initiatives.
- Leverage medical / scientific expertise to support new product development efforts and success of locally marketed products.
- Identify/anticipate information gaps and provide leadership in the timely development of medical / scientific communications.
- Lead and co-ordinate training of personnel on medical/scientific information related to Astellas products within assigned TA.
- Establish Medical / Scientific Affairs Advisory Boards and collaborate with advisors to strategize and implement Medical Affairs Strategic Plan.
- Closely collaborate with Cross-functional Therapeutic team (including Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, Patient Access and Government Relations), as well with Medical Operations to support activities with marketed products and to meet corporate objectives.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in life sciences (Ph.D / Pharm.D / MD) and minimum 7 years pharmaceutical industry experience required (in Medical / Scientific Affairs, clinical research, project management).
Knowledge of healthcare environment, strong familiarity with biostatistical and health economics and outcomes research principles, proven leadership ability, excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and administrative skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Assigned therapeutic area(s) experience and bilingual (English/French) would be advantageous.
Compensation Package:
A competitive salary ranging from $120,000 to $180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
