Senior Medical Affairs Director, Oncology Therapeutic Area

Astellas Pharma Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Affairs Director to lead our Oncology Therapeutic Area team.
This role will be based at our head office in Markham, Ontario, and will report to the Head of Medical Affairs Canada.
Estimated Salary Range:$140,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction across all functions of the Oncology Therapeutic Area team.
You will develop and implement integrated medical affairs strategies that are aligned with the company's core medical plans and local business needs.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, key external experts, and allied health professionals to ensure medical/scientific understanding and advocacy around Astellas medicines;
- Providing medical/scientific expertise to support new product development efforts and commercial success of locally marketed products;
- Leveraging medical/scientific expertise to support clinical development in assigned therapeutic areas, as directed;
- Establishing and maintaining compliance culture across all regions of the business;
- Cooperating with US, Established Markets and Global Medical Affairs in the design and/or implementation of international clinical studies in Canada.
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- A graduate degree in life sciences (Ph.D./Pharm.D./M.D.);
- A minimum of 7 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical/Scientific Affairs, clinical research, or project management;
- Strong familiarity with biostatistical and health economics and outcomes research principles;
- Proven leadership ability;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and administrative skills;
- Knowledge of local and international regulations, Innovative Medicines Code of Ethical Practices, and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
