Job Title: Senior Communications Specialist

Medavie Blue Cross is seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing external communications strategies to support business objectives across Medavie, Medavie Blue Cross, and Medavie Health Services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute external communications plans to promote our brands and leverage business activities, sponsorships, speaking opportunities, corporate initiatives, and industry perspective and expertise.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to business partners on external communication strategies and tactics that support business objectives.
  • Develop external communications materials, including key messages, news releases, speaking remarks, presentations, op-eds, corporate appointment announcements, and other materials as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze key regional and national news media to identify issues that may impact our operations and/or reputation.
  • Support the marketing team in their communications efforts and provide communications support for special projects and ad hoc initiatives as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in corporate communications, focusing on external communications with an ability to work with the media and provide media coaching.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required to meet the needs of our English-speaking clientele.
  • Exceptional written communications skills, including editing, proofreading, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to modify writing tone and voice to match the needs of different audiences and media targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise senior leaders and create approaches that address business demands and needs.
  • Solid time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and produce materials to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, project management, and relationship-building skills with an ability to work with multi-stakeholder teams in a fast-paced environment.
