About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Specialist to join our team at Medavie Blue Cross. As a key member of our Talent & Communications department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing external communications strategies to support business objectives across our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic advice and support to business partners on external communication strategies and tactics that align with our business objectives.
  • Develop and implement external communications materials, including key messages, news releases, speaking remarks, presentations, and op-eds.
  • Act as the primary media point of contact for Medavie Blue Cross in Quebec, working closely with business partners to respond to media inquiries and interviews.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media representatives, identifying emerging opportunities and challenges that require proactive communication.
  • Monitor key regional and national news media to stay informed about issues that may impact our organization's operations and reputation.
  • Support the marketing team in their communications efforts and provide communications support for special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in corporate communications, with a focus on external communications and media relations.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required to meet the needs of our English-speaking clientele.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including editing, proofreading, and attention to detail.
  • A demonstrated ability to advise senior leaders and create approaches that address business demands and needs.
  • Strong interpersonal, project management, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work with multi-stakeholder teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced skills with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as other presentation software.
