About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Estimator to join our team at Whitemud Ironworks Limited. As a key member of our estimating department, you will play a critical role in preparing accurate and detailed estimates of labour and material costs for our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare comprehensive estimates of labour and material costs for our projects, taking into account various factors such as site conditions, material costs, and labour rates.
  • Report Creation: Develop and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms to stakeholders, ensuring that all necessary information is included and presented in a clear and concise manner.
  • Tender Analysis: Analyze tenders and recommend awards to our clients, considering factors such as cost, quality, and timelines.
  • Contract Management: Monitor and adjust contract expenditures to ensure that projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
  • Supply Chain Management: Maintain a directory of suppliers and trade contractors, ensuring that we have access to the best possible resources for our projects.
  • Communication: Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to discuss changes and adjustments to cost estimates, ensuring that all parties are informed and aligned.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Language: Fluency in English is required.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail is essential.
Professional Development
  • Membership: Membership in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors is an asset.
  • Specialization: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge are an advantage.
