Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant | Financial Operations Specialist to join our team in Markham, ON. This individual will be responsible for spearheading accounting functions for profit centers and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements.

About the Role

This position involves preparing journal entries, reviewing general ledger accounts, and analyzing financial data to ensure compliance with accounting guidelines. The successful candidate will also be responsible for accumulating and analyzing information for the preparation of financial statements, ledgers, and reports on a monthly basis.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Proficiency in MS Office Suite Products (Outlook, Excel, Word) is essential, with industry software experience being a plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare journal entries, review general ledger accounts, and analyze financial data to ensure compliance with accounting guidelines.
  • Accumulate and analyze information for the preparation of financial statements, ledgers, and reports on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budget and perform analysis of related data as needed.
  • Prepare month-end reports and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly accrual journal entries for expenses.
  • Responsible for the general operation of corporate accounting systems.
  • Assist with the preparation of audit schedules.
  • Review and analyze general ledger account balances.
  • Answer inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Verify accuracy of accounting data and make recommendations for corrections.
  • Provide ad-hoc training and ongoing assistance to subordinates and new staff.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and abilities equivalent to a four-year college degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A minimum of 1+ years' experience in an accounting or financial role.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite Products (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Industry software experience a plus.
  • Insurance background a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Good analytical abilities.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Compensation

$105,000 - $115,000 total compensation (Base salary + annual bonus CAD)
