Speech Pathologist II

The University of Alberta Hospital is a leading clinical, research, and teaching hospital, providing exceptional care to over 700,000 patients annually. As a Speech Pathologist, you will be part of a collaborative team, working with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide clinical professional practice, independently and as part of a team, to prevent, promote, and manage communication and swallowing disorders.
- Participate in the planning, coordination, and delivery of rehabilitation services, collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Supervise students and provide clinical guidance to other staff as needed, utilizing leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development using clinical expertise.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification.
- Recent adult inpatient acute care experience within Alberta.
- Independence and proficiency in clinical and instrumental swallowing assessments, with the ability to manage challenging caseload demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with complex medical patient populations, including end-of-life care, chronic disease management, post-ICU care, and dementia.
- Instrumental assessment (VFSS) competence.
