We are seeking an accomplished professional to serve as our Executive Director. This individual will be responsible for leading our organization's efforts to promote the interests of finfish farmers in Atlantic Canada.

About the Position

As Executive Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy that promotes the growth and sustainability of finfish aquaculture in Atlantic Canada. Your primary goal will be to foster partnerships with key stakeholders, including government, agencies, and industry organizations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic plan to drive growth and sustainability in the finfish aquaculture sector;
  • Fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government, agencies, and industry organizations;
  • Leading the development and implementation of operational plans, services, and project budgets that promote opportunities for finfish farming in Atlantic Canada;
  • Serving as the primary spokesperson for the association, representing the views and interests of the finfish aquaculture industry to government and non-government organizations;
  • Collaborating with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance;
About You

We are looking for a highly experienced leader with a proven track record in the seafood or related sectors. Your ideal background should include:

  • A minimum of 10 years experience in the seafood or related sectors;
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in member relations, public advocacy, networking, collaborative government relations, and acquisition of funding;
  • Knowledge of the seafood industry, including familiarity with provincial and federal regulatory regimes and the business environment for the seafood industry locally, nationally, and internationally;
  • Well-developed communication, media relations, public speaking, presentations, and facilitation skills;
  • Substantial experience in strategic planning, leading people, financial operations, and project execution;
  • Strong decision-making capabilities, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • A self-starter with passion for the work, ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Demonstrated conflict management skills through conflict resolution, advisory services, coaching, mediations, and alternate dispute resolution techniques;
  • Familiarity with not-for-profit member-based organizations and/or association operations;
