Construction Management Expert for Large-Scale Transit Projects

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Management Expert to join our team in Toronto, ON. As a Project Engineer/Coordinator, you will play a critical role in the planning, organization, and implementation of project management duties on large-scale transit projects.

Our Mass Electric Transportation district specializes in transit and rail systems construction and maintenance, with expertise in overhead contact systems, traction power substations, signaling, and control centers.
Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Inspect field conditions, identify problems, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Supervise subordinates' work, ensuring compliance with contract plans and specifications.
- Manage project master schedules using appropriate techniques and scheduling software.
- Maintain document control, receive and log new issue drawings, and distribute them to the field.
- Review new issue drawings and contract documents for changes in conditions, quantify impacts, and review with supervisor.
- Prepare monthly cost projections using project management systems and quarterly cash flow projections.
- Recommend process improvements and procedural changes to enhance project operations.
- Act as managing project engineer/coordinator, providing supervision and on-the-job training for lower-level engineers.
- Read and understand plans and specifications, visualizing two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
- Manage and support project teams, including direct reports and others as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience and education in project or field engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in construction and engineering field.
- Experience working on electrical and/or transit rail construction projects is preferred.
- Proven leadership and management skills, with abilities in communication, planning, organization, delegation, and mentoring.
- Able to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity for subordinates.
- Working knowledge and ability to direct management systems, including accounts payable/accounts receivable, materials control, estimating, job cost updates, and subcontracts.
Estimated Salary Range
$116,000 - $121,000 per year, based on location and experience.
