About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join our team at PCL Constructors Inc. in Edmonton, Alberta. As an Instructional Designer, you will play a key role in developing and implementing learning solutions that meet the needs of our employees and support the company's business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop instructor-led courses and e-learning programs that align with business needs and learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create curricula and learning materials that are engaging and effective.
  • Assess participant needs and modify instructional strategies to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
  • Use rapid authoring tools to develop e-learning content that supports instructor-led courses and programs.
  • Develop and implement standards for course and program evaluation, and make revisions to improve quality.
  • Provide company-wide support and consultation services on learning and development initiatives.
  • Manage the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of behavioral and technical courses and programs.
  • Prepare course materials, including pre- and post-course work.
  • Research and apply best practices and industry trends in learning and development.
  • Monitor and assess learner development and learning outcomes.
  • Lead projects and programs, applying project and time management principles to track tasks and deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in training delivery and facilitation in a corporate environment preferred.
  • Understanding of adult learning theory and practices.
  • Ability to deliver instructor-led courses to diverse groups with varying knowledge, experience, and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills, high level of detail orientation, and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of organizational change-management methodologies an asset.
  • Intermediate-level business acumen and understanding of industry practices and new developments.
  • Ability to research and analyze information.
  • Ability to develop and form relationships and gain the confidence of learners to ensure effective facilitation.
  • Experience designing and implementing new courses and programs.
