About the Opportunity

The Healthcare Social Worker plays a vital role in the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing collaborative and holistic care across the primary to quaternary care continuum. This role focuses on the relationships between individuals and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The social determinants of health are embedded in social work theory and practice, and the dynamic and interactive process of engagement, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation is a key aspect of this position.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker who possesses a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and is currently registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of post-BSW clinical experience and a strong understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Previous experience working with clients with MHA's concerns is preferred, as is knowledge of various treatment theories and practice of harmful involvement, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and stages of change. The ability to complete biopsychosocial assessments and demonstrate excellent communication skills is also essential. A valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position, with 75 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $33.80 - $42.68, and successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
