Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Nursing Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary health care team, you will provide high-quality psychiatric nursing care services to patients in our Pediatric Emergency Department.

About the Role
  • Assess and develop individualized care plans for patients with complex mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and promote effective communication among healthcare providers.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to junior staff members and participate in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Liaise with community service providers and facilitate transitions of care to ensure seamless support for patients and families.
Requirements
  • Degree in Nursing (BScN or ADN) and current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • At least one year of recent experience in an acute psychiatric setting, preferably working with adolescents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of mental health assessment, psychopharmacology, concurrent disorders, and DSM-V multiaxial diagnoses.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, including non-invasive blood pressure machines, pulse oximeters, and computers.
