Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and running repairs on all McAsphalt, Miller, and third-party fleet vehicles. This includes servicing, repairing, overhauling, diagnosing, and inspecting vehicles to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Main Responsibilities- Detecting, diagnosing, and repairing problems with brakes, wheels, hubs, frames, lift/steer axles, ABS, suspension systems, electrical systems, air systems, product tank and external piping, as well as landing gears.
- Using diagnostic equipment to diagnose and isolate faults.
- Staying up-to-date on advances in technology and updating skills to remain current with industry developments.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues, drivers, maintenance managers, shop foremen, parts technicians, service advisors, and the dispatch team.
- Interpreting manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications.
- Performing wheel alignments.
- Diagnosing tread wear, flat repairs, dismounts, and mounts, along with tire rotation.
- Carrying out welding and fabrication duties.
- Completing annual safety checks with MTO and National Safety Standards.
- Ensuring all repairs meet certification requirements.
- Preparing units for B620 certifications and completing any necessary repairs.
- Managing work orders and paperwork related to service and repair of fleet vehicles.
- Assisting in training apprentices and maintaining a clean and safe work environment according to 6S standards.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a licensed Trailer Mechanic.
- 310J Truck-Trailer Service Technician Certification.
- Interprovincial Red Seal Certification.
- Maintenance of valid membership with Skilled Trades Ontario.
- B620 certification is an asset.
