Job Title: Sous Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at AVIV Immigrant Kitchen Restaurant. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the preparation and presentation of our menu items.

Job Summary:
  • Assist the Executive Chef in the preparation and presentation of menu items.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation.
  • Develop and implement new recipes and menu items to enhance the dining experience.
  • Manage kitchen inventory and supplies to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, and inventory.
  • Develop and implement new cooking techniques and equipment training for kitchen staff.
  • Create new recipes and menu items to enhance the dining experience.
  • Train kitchen staff in preparation, cooking, and presentation of food.
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events and special occasions.
Requirements:
  • 2 years of experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent experience.
  • College/CEGEP diploma in culinary arts or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy loads.
