Junior Financial Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Financial Analyst to join our Finance team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing financial advisory services to our operational and corporate business units.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-quality customer service to Directors, Managers, Physician Leaders, and other stakeholders across NSH
- Supporting Leaders in understanding financial results and issues
- Monthly financial forecasting and variance analysis
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen, automate, and standardize business processes
- Assisting with other projects as needed
- Conducting analysis to deepen understanding of cost drivers and financial variances
- Performing various month-end accounting duties and cost center maintenance
- Collaborating with various teams to develop and implement process improvements
- Advising on budgetary and spending decisions to help achieve financial goals
- Contribute to business case development and financial proposals
- Presenting Financial results and analysis
We are looking for a candidate with a strong analytical and problem-solving skillset, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. About YouWe are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized post-secondary business and/or accounting program
- Enrolment or completion of CPA designation considered an asset
- Understanding of Finance and performance indicators
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with team members and stakeholders
- Ability to take ownership of projects and to learn and work independently
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, sumifs, organizing data sets, etc)
- Technology skills is considered an asset (SAP, SQL, Tableau, VBA, macros)
- Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to identify trends and developments from Financial data and other evidence
- Healthcare experience or knowledge considered an asset
This is a full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule. The expected start date is as soon as possible, with an expected end date of July 10, (Approximately 24 months). Dates are subject to change.
Compensation and IncentivesThe hourly rate for this position is $26.92 - 33.65. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
