At the University of British Columbia, we value diversity and excellence in research and innovation. We are seeking a highly skilled individual to lead our Core Facility for Neurology Biomarker Innovation (CFNBI).

About the Role

The successful candidate will oversee the strategic development and management of the CFNBI, including its business model, personnel, grants, partnerships, and resource allocation. They will provide high-level leadership for all research projects and operational oversight for research conducted within the facility.

This role requires a specialist with expertise in fluid biomarker research, experience in managing complex research facilities, and excellent leadership and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of securing funding, building partnerships, and driving revenue growth.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize the CFNBI's business model to serve the academic community and increase revenue generation from external collaborations.
  • Lead the overall strategic direction and development, design, implementation, evaluation, and management of the fluid biomarker research program.
  • Provide leadership for all research projects conducted by the CFNBI.
  • Develop project proposals in partnership with collaborators.
  • Obtain ISO 15189 accreditation in BC as a clinical diagnostic facility.
  • Manage and supervise staff and trainees working within the facility.
  • Develop relationships with granting agencies, local, national, and international academic and clinical collaborators, and government stakeholders.
  • Direct financial management related to research projects and grant applications.
  • Oversee research ethics submissions and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements

We require a post-graduate degree or an equivalent professional designation with a minimum of five years of related experience, including experience in a field of specialization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fluid biomarker research, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a proven track record of success in managing complex research facilities.

A competitive salary of CAD $17 per hour is offered, commensurate with experience.
