We are seeking a part-time hourly Research Assistant to join the BC Brain Wellness Program at The University of British Columbia.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will assist in clinical research, investigating novel lifestyle interventions, implementing established lifestyle interventions, and publishing research findings. They must be knowledgeable and mindful of the research enterprise, ensuring patient confidentiality and safety, as well as clinical data reliability and quality.

About the Role
  • Recruit potential participants through various strategies, provide information and answer questions about research studies.
  • Screen patients for eligibility and schedule study visits.
  • Obtain informed consent from participants and adhere to informed consent procedures and ethical guidelines for research involving human subjects.
  • Perform clinical assessments and interviews with participants and collect clinical and demographic information.
  • Review all study visit documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Enter data collected into the research database and ensure policies and procedures for data management are being followed.
  • Assist in tracking participant remunerations and petty cash, as well as completing financial requisitions as needed.
  • Write and maintain ethics research protocols associated with relevant studies.
  • Write, edit, and submit research findings for publication.
  • Perform literature reviews when required.
  • Participate in group meetings, scientific seminars, and conferences.

Requirements
  • High school graduation, some additional training in a related field, and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and communicate compassionately with patient participants.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing work plans, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Self-motivation and enthusiasm for disease-oriented medical research.
  • Computer skills, including Word Processing, Internet (PubMed), and database (Access, Excel) experience.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 per year, based on a 20-hour workweek. Additional benefits include access to electronic medical records, professional development opportunities, and a comprehensive compensation package.
