Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Coordinator to join our team at Silgan Containers. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to our production team, ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting with Production Activities: Assist production supervisors in planning and executing production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of products while maintaining quality standards.
  • Hands-On Support: Provide hands-on support to production tasks as needed, including obtaining packages and printing tickets for the next orders run. Act as a backup to a shift supervisor if needed.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Work with production supervisors to input and maintain accurate production records, including production reports, inventory logs, and quality control documentation. Generate regular reports for production supervisors to review. Collect daily OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) reports and upload them into Oracle (ERP). Input any outstanding information for OEE reports.
  • Inventory: Assist the production supervisor in monitoring and maintaining inventory levels of raw materials, supplies, and finished products to support production needs and prevent shortages or overages. Assist with counts and tracks regrind, scrap, and other materials as required. Assist in completing daily and weekly cycle counts to ensure inventory is correct.
  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality supervisor responsible for quality control to ensure products meet specifications and standards, implementing corrective actions as necessary to address any quality issues. Assist supervisor in auditing logs for accuracy and completeness as well as the testing of samples as required. Ensure they are provided to the quality team.
  • Safety Compliance: Assist the production and quality supervisors in ensuring adherence to company safety policies and procedures, conducting regular safety inspections, and addressing any safety concerns promptly. Schedule and take minutes at the monthly plant Safety Committee meetings and ensure follow-up on pending actions.
  • Training and Development: Assist production supervisors in training new production team members on processes, equipment operation, safety protocols, and quality standards to ensure a competent and skilled workforce. Update the training system (Litmos) as required.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and efficiency improvements within the production workflow, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to implement changes.
  • Office Administration: Assist with the filing of documents from our suppliers, submit and file plant documents as required, keep monthly inspection documents, and keep records up to date on when contracts come due.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience in a production environment, preferably in a hands-on role supporting production supervisors.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with production machinery and equipment.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with production teams, supervisors, and other departments. Fluency in the French language is essential. A working knowledge of English is required to effectively communicate with Company resources based outside of Quebec.
  • Problem Solving: Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly analyze situations, identify issues, and implement solutions to keep production on track.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive work culture.
  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this role, with additional technical training or certifications related to production processes and equipment being beneficial.

The hands-on support to production supervisors is critical in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and safety of production operations. Coordination skills, technical know-how, and dedication to process improvement will contribute significantly to the success of the production team and the overall company objectives.
