Estimator for Building Construction Projects

About the Role:

Maple Contractors Ltd. is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing estimates of labour and/or material costs for building construction projects. This includes preparing pre-qualification submissions, reading blueprints and specifications, and operating CADD and other computer software systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs for building construction projects
  • Prepare pre-qualification submissions to present clients
  • Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems
  • Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads
  • Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects
  • Project cash flow and financing requirements
  • Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets and bids forms
  • Utilize quantity take-off procedures
  • Advise on tendering procedures
  • Analyze tenders and recommend awards
  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems
  • Monitor and adjust contract expenditures
  • Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors
  • Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates

Requirements:

  • Gold Seal Membership in the Canadian Construction Association
  • Membership in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors
  • Membership in the Professional Corporation for Estimators
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CADD Course
  • Carpenter Trade Certification
  • Electrician Trade Certification
  • Plumber Trade Certification
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
