Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to fill the role of Clinical Site Coordinator at Vancouver General Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to Respiratory Therapy students during their rotation at the hospital.
  • Collaborate with the TRU Program Coordinator to develop and implement training programs for students.
  • Develop and maintain training manuals, instructional materials, and evaluation tools.
  • Teach and train staff and students on respiratory therapy techniques and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between the hospital and TRU, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Perform technical and therapeutic procedures as required, demonstrating expertise and leadership in respiratory practice.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program and completion of a professional instructional program for teaching.
  • Successful completion of the Health Professionals Testing Canada Credentialing Exam.
  • Three years' recent experience in a tertiary level acute care environment, including teaching and/or supervisory experience.
  • Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists and BC Society of Respiratory Therapists.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Respiratory Therapy theory and practice within a client and family-centered model.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by BCSRT.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based Respiratory Therapy practice related to clinical areas.
  • Broad knowledge of other healthcare disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, medical personnel, and other healthcare staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop training materials, instructional tools, and evaluation systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and train staff and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement training plans.
  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
  • Demonstrated continuous education pathway.
  • Skill in the use of equipment and techniques appropriate to respiratory therapy.
  • Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet, graphic presentation, and database skills.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
